Photohide

Some rely on it constantly. Others ignore it completely. I occasionally find myself using it. The portable photo hide.

My approach varies based on the situation. Sometimes I remain stationary in my blind, while other times I prefer to explore and roam the area. When I’ve scouted a location beforehand and identified where intriguing wildlife resides, I typically opt for using a photo hide.

Foxes, badgers, and other burrow-dwelling animals can be effectively photographed from a well placed hide. Similarly, elusive birds like black grouse and capercaillie, known for their dramatic courtship displays, are best captured from the concealment of a photo hide.

When you’re stationed in your photo shelter, certain essentials can make all the difference. A sturdy tripod and a comfortable chair are must-haves, but the real game-changer is a thermos filled with your favorite hot beverage, whether it’s coffee, tea, or cocoa. Don’t forget to pack some snacks as well. Photographing wildlife often requires patience, and having a few comforts on hand helps make the waiting more enjoyable.
